This conference room is named after Alexander Samarin (1902-1970). A steel scientist, Samarin specialised in steel-gas interactions and physicochemical parameters of steelmaking.

He began mastering the ferroalloy production processes when he was still a student. In the early 1930s, he led a research team at the Chelyabinsk Ferroalloy Plant that did a lot for the implementation and launch of ferrochrome production. He played a significant role in the deployment of ferroalloy production sites across the country.
In the late 1950s, his academic focus was on the investigation of physicochemical properties of making steel. Moreover, he managed the study of routine steelmaking operations, which resulted in higher productivity and quality of EAF steel based on air and carbon oxide blowing.
