This transformable conference room on the 2nd floor is named after the founder of the Russian blast furnace school Mikhail Kurako (1872-1920). A military school student, he ran away from home at 15 and began working in the metallurgical industry of the Donbass Region. He had mastered all blasting jobs and became a casthouse operator by 18.

His outstanding talent and deep practical experience of BF operations enabled Mikhail Kurako, who lacked any formal education, to become the first Russian blasting technician at foreign plants operated in the south of Russia. He was also the first to introduce American BATs into Russian steelmaking. Kurako established a blast furnace school, the Kurako Academy, which trained such prominent engineers, professors and researchers as I. P. Bardin, G. N. Kazarnovskiy, M. F. Zhestovsky, and others.
